Essential oils for hair that make a difference

I recently started looking at hair care in a whole new light due to my hair journey with the different hair care products in the Luster’s range. If you’ve been in tune with my posts you would know that a number of weeks ago I introduced you to Luster’s products and I was drawn to the fact that many women profess to trust olive oil when it comes to hair care so I was thrilled that Luster’s Pink range provided this. I wasn’t content however, something kept telling me check out what other ingredients are in the products – I would be lying if I didn’t say  I was thrilled when I discovered that not only does the range include olive oil but  five other essential oils. Here’s a mini rundown of the benefits of these essential oils

Core Benefits

Olive oil works at reducing hair loss, conditions hair and contributes towards a healthy scalp
Argan oil which has been all the rage in the past few years is known to soften hair, making it silky smooth, combats frizzy hair and treats split ends.
Avocado oil repairs damage, moisturises and rejuvenates hair
Aloe Vera is a great conditioner for all hair types
For deep shaft penetration; sunflower oil conditions hair, making it smoother, shinier, healthier and stronger.
For those who want thicker, longer hair coconut oil is known to grow hair faster naturally.

Avon products you need

Avon Mega Effects Mascara with Keratin

It would be a lie if I said I didn't love this mascara. I love the black and pink packaging - pink being one of my favourite colours. The design of the brush and applicator adds uber pizzazz to what could have been a regular mascara. This however, isn't a regular mascara. The definition it gives to my lashes and extra volume sets it apart as far from regular. This is definitely a super fun mascara and has me saying falsies be gone.

Avon Colour Trend Eyeshadow Pencil

Glides on smoothly and colours the lid to precision without having to wipe away excess shadow. You can glide on more to intensify the colour which I really love. It lasts for long hours without having to apply more through out the day. It’s really easy to use and the smooth hassle free application is what makes it a winner.

Avon Clear Skin Professional Deep Pore Cleansing Scrub/ Gommage pour net toyed les pores en profounder & Avon Clear Skin Professional Liquid Extraction Strip/ Gel anti-points noirs

I've been using this deep pore cleansing scrub for a minute now and I am amazed at the results. The slight sting I feel when its on my face makes me know it's at work. I love it so much I use it more than 3 times a week. (not recommended) but it works for me. My breakouts have minimized which is always something I dread but now I'm content with the one or two that pop up here and there. It does a good job at leaving my skin feeling clean and smooth.
The extraction strip transforms from liquid to a flexible peel-off strip removing dirt and the look of blackheads from pores. This one isn't one I like using cause removing the peel can be daunting - somewhat like you're removing wax from your face - but the results are immediate and you do get to see the difference without waiting for too long. Skin looks more alive, clean and super smooth with black head extraction being evident.

Disclaimer: My skin isn't in perfect condition yet however, blame it on not sticking to my evening cleansing routine.

Essential hair products every girl should own

Every girl needs her basic wash and go products to keep her hair clean, conditioned and nourished. This may not be something new to you but one important component most of us ladies rule out is conditioner. Shampoo and conditioner complement each other. Although most of us have made the mistake of just using shampoo on our hair while washing it and never conditioning it it's important we go back to the basics. These two products work effectively when used together, although each having their own specific purposes.
If you skip out on conditioner know now that it’s a bad idea. Granted I used to do it and now it explains why I wouldn't get salon results at home. Conditioner prevents hair breakage and tangling (who wants to fight with their comb on purpose anyway?), smoothens and strengthens the hair- plus let's not forget the moisture boost. Hydrated hair is king after all. Why miss out on these benefits? Transforming your hair begins with the basics. Keep your shampoo and conditioner together always and use them both.. I’m currently using at Luster’s Pink Conditioning shampoo which is a gentle and effective cleanser and Luster’s Pink RevitaLEX conditioner which replenishes moisture and limits hair breakage. What more can a girl ask for?

Why choose Luster Products?

I first introduced Luster Hair Products on the blog to you last month and like I always say I never recommend products I have not used or experienced. Luster’s Pink range is one of those products I’ve tried and I have been using it for close to two months now. I’ve tried out 6 of the hair products which include – the hair lotion, the shampoo, the conditioner, the conditioning relaxer, the rich and creamy hair dress and the hair milk. My favourite being the hair lotion for its light texture that delivers a burst of moisture to actually tame dry hair. It nourishes and conditions the hair without weighing it down. The soothing sheen spray is great when it comes to delivering shine to the hair. The pictures here show just how my hair looks after spraying it on. It’s not greasy which is a plus from me and the light scent is tolerable. I’ve come across sprays in the past that have a scent that almost chokes you as you spray it onto your hair but I’m glad this one isn’t one of them. I however have been using the creamy hairdress to soothe my itchy scalp under my sewn in weave although that’s not what it’s been made for I find it quite effective and the coolness of the product soothes and relieves the scalp to the tee. The draw card however for me is that the Luster range uses organic extra virgin olive oil which deep conditions the hair, leads to a healthier scalp which can promote hair growth as well. Because olive oil has long been used for hair over the centuries I can trust Luster isn’t selling me a dream when it comes to delivery. Each of their products has their own key role to play in strengthening, moisturizing, giving shine and helping in making the hair more manageable

A simple black dress with the fire of red

Happy New Week fashionistas

I'm excited to actually get time to put up a blog post because I've been very busy with the books. Here's a look I think you will love. A modest formal black dress with the fire of red. Two colours that really go well together without either one over-powering the other. I would wear this dress in a business setting or to church. I love the black and gold button detailing which gives what would have just been another black dress some personality. For my look I paired the dress with a light black blazer in one of the pictures the rest of the pictures are with a red animal print scarf, because it was slightly cold out and my forever 21 black courts. Let me know what you think.

Feeling pretty in my winter favourite

A few weeks back I got a chance to go out for a late afternoon lunch (by now you know I love to eat). I hope I get time to post the food post soon. I've been swamped with school but I will be sure to get it out to you as soon as I can. It was a late lunch because we couldn't decide on where to eat but what to wear took 5 minutes tops. It has been quite cold of late but that day - the sun was out and it was quite warm out - making it one of my favourite days this winter. I was more excited because I didn't have to cover up so much. So here's the look I went for - a very summery look with flowers in my hair, printed leggings, a nautical dress top paired with neutral black courts. It may be cold out but I hope this makes you look forward to summer and gives you ideas for what to wear when its warmer out...

Fashion faux pas

I’ve seen a number of fashion faux pas over the years and there’s some that I just don’t get  We  need to stop committing these crazy fashion crimes. I will have to admit there's times I’ve personally been caught on the wrong side of the law. Like the time I wore yellow denims a yellow polo neck and some very questionable shoes. I look on that moment with absolute horror. So a few of my friends helped me with this one – this might help someone so please do share.

We don’t get why you would wear a really thick tracksuit bottom with a a skirt on top

Pachigogo style. It may be winter but just stop it already. It’s either one or the other. Of course some stylistas do get this look right. It’s important to note they’ve matched the components from texture to fit and dimensions to make it work howeve,  everyone else is just doing it to stay warm and believe me it's not working.

We don’t get how you can wear heels when you can't walk in them

Please note my mum says you look like you're walking like a giraffe. Now picture that. Now picture you doing that. Does it look good to you? Didn’t think so. Heels aren’t made for everyone and we can see when it's killing you and you’re faking it. Spare yourself the drama – no one’s going to resent you for it besides there’s some perfectly stylish flats out there and  fashionable sneakers are all the rage right now so try that instead.

Girls with shaved eyebrows and hairy armpits; what's your story?

Let me just leave this here.

We don’t get why you use red brow liner on your brows

Who came up with this and why; but why vasikana? Who has red brows though?. I mean what happened to black and brown?Do you know there’s black and brown? I think you get my point. Just stop!

See through leggings

I actually like leggings but we didn’t ask for a show and like my dear friend would say hold on, it's not that kind of party. Long tops and leggings especially if they are see through that's just the answer. You might think you look good but no one wants to see that. I repeat no one.

Color blocking is so last year

Like all things trends come and go. Yes if done well it can still look good but some of you are taking it too far. Check out exhibit A and B below to get why this is on the list.

We don,t get why you wear peep toe heels or flats with super long uncut toe nails

What are you trying to do, hurt somebody? Yes I’m going there. I’m sorry to say but it's wise to invest in a nail cutter. Keep it short and sweet. Polish your nails if you must- just don't scare us with your toes. It gets distracting.

Add your fashion faux pas in the comments.

Review: Luster’s Soothing Sheen Spray

I must say, I have been longing to use this product since I got my hands on it and I can proudly say it was worth the wait. I’ve grown up using a number of sheen sprays on my hair and I’ve hardly stuck to one. I really do hope this ends up being a lasting relationship. I recently got a new hairdo and I sure did spray away. The scent is quite contagious- making me want to get a whiff of my hair every now and then because it’s got a lovely sweet scent that lingers on. One thing I hate is a product that doesn’t stick to what it says it offers but Luster’s soothing sheen spray gets a thumbs up on delivery – my hair hasn’t lost its shine since I sprayed it which is what I look for in a product – it would suck to have to continuously spray your hair with sheen spray and only get a few minutes of shine. For all my hair lovers and friends grab one when you’re out and get back to me with the results.

Luster’s Pink Organic Xtra Virgin Olive Oil Soothing Sheen Spray contains a blend of Organic Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil and other natural, beneficial oils to give you a superb, healthy and natural shine. Works great on braids, relaxed hair, colour treated hair and natural styles.
